Which Bible are You quoting from? The translation is not bad at all (in my unimportant opinion), modern but not trivialising. I recently read the Tyndale Bible, the first english-language translation; a fine piece of literature.
These are from the New International version. Not as much flavor as the KJV but much more modern in understanding.
